Certified Professional Coder Course

The best in prep for the CPC® exam

Also referred to as the Medical Coding Training CPC course, this class will prepare the student to sit for the CPC® exam through AAPC. If the student passes the exam, they will be given a credential of CPC®-A until 1 year of medical experience has been completed. If a student has 2 years of medical experience and passes the exam, they will receive the credential of CPC®.

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS

Both the Medical Terminology Course and Medical Billing and Coding Course offered through Foundation Billing and Medical Coding will satisfy the prerequisite requirements for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) Course. A high school diploma or equivalent is also required. Outside of our course offerings, practical knowledge of ICD-10-CM® codes and the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) is required, as well as experience in the medical field using anatomy and medical terminology.

Length of Course

Students have nine (9) months from the purchase date to complete the coursework, and three (3) months to take the CPC® Certification Exam. To finish the course in a timely manner, students are expected to complete one (1) class within the course each week and a half. An official start date for the Certified Professional Coder Course is set after full payment and completed enrollment forms are received by Foundation Billing and Medical Coding, LLC., after which students receive an orientation date for the course.

Classes

The Certified Professional Coder Course is made up of twenty (20) chapters. To stay on track with course access within the six month period, students are expected to complete at least one (1) class per week. The course is offered in an independently-driven self-study program. 

Tuition

Tuition cost for the Medical Billing and Coding Course is $2600.00. This includes the AAPC Student Membership, CPC® Workbook and Textbook, two attempts with the CPC® Certification Exam, and current year CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS books. 

Additional CPC® Exam Information

The CPC® National Exam is offered on-line either in the students home or at a testing facility. It is recommended that students sit for the exam within three months of completion of the course.

Textbooks

The textbooks required for the Certified Professional Coder Course include the CPC® Workbook and Textbook, and current year CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS books. The cost of these textbooks are included in the cost of tuition.

Tammy Sue Keyes, CPC, CPMA, CRC, CFPC, Approved Instructor

Tammy Sue Keyes has over 25 years of experience in the medical profession. She is the founder of Foundation Billing and Medical Coding, LLC (2021) with a specialty in physician billing and coding.

Her extensive background includes ophthalmology, podiatry, chiropractic, and family practice. Her past also includes being an instructor for Career Coders, LLC, and past member/officer of the AAPC Loveland Chapter as secretary and president.
She has presented for several AAPC local chapters as well as providing physician education and training.

Her true passion is teaching and lifelong learning. She resides in Johnstown, Colorado, with her husband, daughter, and cat.
