Medical Billing and Coding Course

Dive into the medical billing and coding industry

Students who complete this course will obtain the key basic knowledge to obtain an entry-level position in medical billing and coding. Students are introduced to ICD-10-CM, CPT®, code modifiers, HCPCS, HIPAA, fraud and abuse, and professional ethics and standards. The course also covers all aspects of the insurance field and insurance companies.

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS

Our Medical Terminology Course is a satisfactory prerequisite for preparing to take the Medical Billing and Coding Course. Previous practical experience using anatomical and medical terminology in the medical or a related healthcare field also satisfies our requirements.

Length of Course

Students have six (6) months from the purchase date to complete the coursework. To finish the course in a timely manner, students are expected to complete one (1) class within the course each week. An official start date for the Medical Billing and Coding Course is set after full payment and completed enrollment forms are received by Foundation Billing and Medical Coding, LLC., after which students receive an orientation date for the course.

Courses

The Medical Billing and Coding Course is made up of twenty-one (21) chapters. To stay on track with course access within the six month period, students are expected to complete at least one (1) class per week. The course is offered in an independently-driven self-study program. Students are required to print out their own copies of class assignments and lecture notes. If printing is unavailable to the student, Foundation Medical Billing and Coding can provide the printed assignments and notes for an $80 fee. 

Tuition & Registration Fees

Tuition cost for the Medical Billing and Coding Course is $1600.00. Textbook costs (plus shipping and handling) are not included in this price. 

Textbooks

The textbooks required for the Medical Billing and Coding Course include current editions of CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS books. The cost of these textbooks are $400 when students buy the book directly, but can be purchased through the instructor for $275.

Tammy Sue Keyes, CPC, CPMA, CRC, CFPC, Approved Instructor

Tammy Sue Keyes has over 25 years of experience in the medical profession. She is the founder of Foundation Billing and Medical Coding, LLC (2021) with a specialty in physician billing and coding.

Her extensive background includes ophthalmology, podiatry, chiropractic, and family practice. Her past also includes being an instructor for Career Coders, LLC, and past member/officer of the AAPC Loveland Chapter as secretary and president.
She has presented for several AAPC local chapters as well as providing physician education and training.

Her true passion is teaching and lifelong learning. She resides in Johnstown, Colorado, with her husband, daughter, and cat.
